The Trust
In the summer of the year 2000, St Mary’s celebrated
its 500th birthday with a splendid village pageant.
It was therefore appropriate that this was followed by the setting up of
an independent Trust, at a public meeting in February 2001, to care for
St Mary’s for the next 500 years! Membership is open to everyone who
has an interest in the Church building.
Charity status was given in September 2001. The Trust’s objectives
are:-
To provide a long-term strategy to support the maintenance of the church
for generations to come.
∑To involve the inhabitants of Steeple Ashton and other interested
people, whether church-goers or not, in the preservation of St Mary’s
Church.
To raise funds though events, grants, donations and legacies for this purpose.
∑To enhance the appreciation of the building through lectures and
publications.
∑To co-operate with the Church Authorities in furtherance of these
objectives.
