ABRIDGED SUMMARY OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE’S REPORT
OVERALL POSITION
The Trustees for the year comprise the Executive Committee of the Trust:-

It has been a most encouraging year. Financially, the Trust has benefited from a significant increase in income. Fifty members executed Deeds of Gifts and monies raised from the various events increased nearly tenfold. The surplus for the year is a commendable achievement and we intend to build on the lessons learnt.
Grateful thanks are due to all those who have given generously and to the many who have assisted in and supported the programme of events.
PLANNING
The Trustees have met on a number of occasions with representatives of the PCC and welcome the opportunity these talks provide in establishing a better understanding of the Trust’s objectives. This will continue to be a priority.
We must accept that achieving the full restoration of St Mary’s Church & the funding required will take time.
Repairs to the roof, which were to have taken place last autumn, are now rescheduled for the Spring.
Talks have taken place with English Heritage and we will be working with them to establish the degree to which we may expect their assistance. A further survey of the inaccessible parts of the building may be required, so the full picture is known.
The whole work required is clearly a major undertaking and planning therefore has to be long term.
PROGRAMME FOR 2004
A varied list of events has been arranged and a printed Programme, will be distributed far and wide again, to promote our "Steeple Ashton in June" Festival.
We are grateful to the many volunteers who have helped at events last year. There is always room for more, so if you would like to help, please contact one of the Trustees.
One new venture for 2004 is an Annual Draw. A lot of assistance will be required in selling the tickets.
A portfolio of prints is now available for sale. Also, in preparation for the end of the year, please let the Trustees know if you can provide a snow scene picture of the Church, which the Trust could use for a printed Christmas card.
