Steeple Ashton Guides

Steeple Ashton Guides have been keeping themselves busy and we now have 24 Guides in our Unit from Steeple Ashton, Semington, Keevil, Bulkington, Hilperton, Paxcroft Mead, Edington and West Ashton.
We recently celebrated the Queen’s Golden Jubilee in our Division and over 600 Rainbows, Brownies and Guides joined together at St Laurence School for an afternoon of sports, crafts, and traditional tea and community singing. Despite the bad weather when we had to have all activities inside we gave the girls a memorable day to remember..
We are supporting the Bruce Trust, who provide canal boats for the disabled, by cleaning one of their narrow boats at Foxhangers during the turnaround. Hopefully, we will be able to have a weekend on the Rebecca again this autumn. We have also been trying to keep some graves weed free, (not easy in this wet weather), in Steeple Ashton Churchyard.
The weekend of June 15-16 we are taking 18 guides to our Guide HQ at Berwick St James, where we will be doing some outdoor cooking and walking as well as indoor crafts.
In the Summer we are off to Switzerland for the fourth time. This time rather than going by coach all the way, we are flying from Heathrow to Zurich then by train to Interlaken where we shall be staying for 10 days. We shall be there for the 1st of August which is Swiss National Day. Once again we shall be travelling around using the Swiss Travel pass and visiting our Chalet at Adelboden, as well as travelling on boats, trains, post-buses, funicular railways, cable cars and a spot of walking in between.
In July we are having a Family Skittles evening when we hope that all parents and friends will come along and support us.
We had a successful coffee morning at our Guide HQ in Trowbridge where we raised £170 for our funds. Over the last few months we have received donations from some of the Parish Councils which have been of great use to us in keeping our weekly meeting running whilst providing us with craft material, cooking ingredients as well as badges, books and files for the girls.
We are always looking for extra help with running both our Brownie and Guide Units and if you can spare us some of your valuable time we would be most grateful to hear from you.
